As the end of the world is being predicted more often than not, “World War Z” plays on this fear and combining with steady fast direction and a tensely driven Brad Pitt. This is a highly successful film that takes the audience into its deepest core of fear and never let that stops even after the credits appear on screen. After the failure of many blockbuster disaster flicks, “World War Z” like many before looks brilliant on screen, but it manages to deliver right from the opening zombie scene which essentially sets the tone for an exhilarating ride to come. From the pacing, sharp camera work including sporadic use of hand held to further depict the situation to the makeup effects of the zombies, “World War Z” feels every bit sensational and highly effective as well.

Brad Pitt provides an imposing and highly credible hero for the audience to root for. In fact, Pitt essentially carries the film from start to finish as well as being able to strike an emotional core with the audience. Tom Cruise tried to do the same in the earlier disaster epic “War of the Worlds”, but lacks the intensity and pales in comparison to Pitt.

All in all, “World War Z” is easily one of the most exhilarating and edge of your seat thriller of the year. It is rare that a film can grasp onto you so tightly and never ever let go. “World War Z” is real and talks about something that can easily become a reality for us all. It makes us ponder about human nature and how just a hint of disorder in society can change the world so much (although the effects here are massive). It allows us to confront our own greatest fear and with so much talk about another world war destroying the world or even the slightest possibility of end of the world, “World War Z” succeeds in successfully playing on this fear and in turn creating a wonderful and engulfing spectacle in the process. A tightly knitted and crafty acted affair for all… (Neo 2013)
