[NeoFilmShop.com] Heartfall Arises 惊心破(2016) – China / Hong Kong

Embarrassing, demeaning, stupid and ridiculous are the first words that come to mind after viewing quite possibly the worst Chinese film of the year. With so much budget wasted and the talent of Lau Ching Wan and Nicholas Tse involved, one must wonder how bad a film it possibly can be. The truth is that the plot is so ridiculously put together that it essentially becomes all the shortcomings and cliches of the action thriller genre. If there is a prime example of how to make a bad movie with a lot of money to spare, Heartfall Arises provides that perfect answer. It is all the more frustrating when Tse and Lau are trying to act in a film that is so bad that it is not even funny. Things get blown up, action scenes that does not make any sense and CGI effects so bad and terrible that one can probably do it with their home computer. It is little wonder that the massive Chinese audience have finally awaken in demanding better quality movies produced by the Mainland. I’m not even going to call this a Hong Kong coproduction as no one sane enough will qualify this as one. It’s a shame for everyone involved and it is probably better forgotten than remembered.
