Review of Hilton Hotel Canary Wharf, London (2016)

Hilton Hotel Canary Wharf, London

Stay: Oct 2016 (4 nights)

As a film critic and former global hotelier, I travel the world often and in the process we get to stay in the most luxurious hotels in landmark locations. It is timely that as a film critic, reviewing my stay should just be a blessing in disguise. Our trip in UK was finished off in the hustle and bustle of London and away from the busy streets of Central London, we opted to stay at the Canary Wharf.
We stayed 4 nights at the Hilton Canary Wharf Hotel and checked in as a Hilton Club member. The room was spacious, clean and business-like, but largely lacking in quality furniture and personal touch. The bathroom is rather basic with a crowded bath tub and wash basin. Given the size of the room which can literally fit another king size bed within the double space, one would have expected the bathroom to be bigger.

The bed is also on the small end and with the room size wasted with emptiness and space. We didn’t use a lot of the services of the hotel, given that it is very basic and convention centre like and probably more fittingly for business travellers that a young couple romancing around the country.

We requested for late check out and was given till 2pm. Which was a nice gesture and we proceeded to use the express check out, only to find out that they charged us for in room mini bar costs that we did not procure. This was cleared upon our request when leaving the hotel. They also did not offer postal services for post cards, which was another minus point.

All in all, this is really a basic Hilton hotel that will not satisfy most demanding or younger couples looking for a romantic night. The location is lovely along the Canary Wharf and located in the business district area of investment banks and trendy Friday nights drinks. Still, with the Hilton brand name, we probably expected more personalised services, nicer quality furniture and overall experience.
