It is rare that a sequel outshines its original or being the kind of film that the first one should have been. This is an intense, edge of the seat and deeply political crime thriller that relate to its city on issues on corruption, the rule of law, power struggle and ultimately a secret inner circle attempting to seizure control of Hong Kong. Filled with powerhouse performances from Aaron Kwok, Tong Leung Ka Fai and Chow Yun Fat in a smaller role. The film is suitably intense throughout, while also contains moments that are absolutely chilling. The best scene goes to the bar chamber where the secret party of politicians, former police commissioners meet. Hong Kong cinema needed a big budget revival and this may well be the blockbuster we have been waiting for. One for the big screen.
