Jet Li made his American debut in a smash banging style in the form of Mel Gibson and Danny Glover greatest nemesis yet. In Li’s villainess turn, he manages to use his silent and deadly stare to great effect making a more than menacing and convincing villain to root for. Billed as the final film of the long running saga, the 4th film is a rehash of their former glories, jokes, family, responsibility and Chinese triads. Gibson as usual manages to play his famed role with ease and plenty of chemistry with co-star Danny Glover. The amazing car stunts of crashing through the building remains the most memorable scene. Chris Rock also provides the motor mouth laughter, while Joe Pesci shows good emotional range. It’s rare that the same director Richard Donner gets all 4 cracks and that’s probably lies the success of the saga. With all matters resolved, this is a good enough finale to finish off the series.
